Ductless Mini-split Installation and Service in Danbury, Ridgefield and Weston, and Nearby Towns in CT and NY

Keep cool with Leahy’s Fuels!

Are you exploring air conditioning solutions for your home in Western Connecticut? If your home relies on a boiler for heating, it is likely lacking the necessary ductwork for a central air conditioning system.

Adding ductwork is a pricey option, adding thousands of dollars to the cost of installing the central air conditioning system. Also, your home is a mess for several days because walls and ceilings need to be opened up for the ductwork installation.

Until recently, homeowners without ductwork faced a dilemma: either invest a significant amount in installing ductwork and central air conditioning or settle for cheaper but less efficient window air conditioning units.

There’s a much better answer to your problem: ductless mini-split installation and service from Leahy’s Fuels! We install, maintain and repair quality, high-efficiency Fujitsu ductless mini-splits. You can also count on us to assist with financing and securing any rebates your mini-splits are eligible for.

What are mini-splits and how do they work?

A ductless mini-split system is comprised of an outdoor compressor unit and an indoor air handler or evaporator. These two components are linked by tubing that houses power lines, communication lines and condensate drain lines.

The compressor, as the name suggests, squeezes the refrigerant vapor, making it easier to move into the condenser. In the condenser, the vapor releases heat into the air and transforms into a liquid. The liquid flows through an expansion valve, which significantly reduces the pressure. After that, it enters the evaporator coil, which absorbs heat from the low-pressure coolant. When the indoor air passes over it, the cooling process kicks in, and the air exits the supply registers, cooling your home.

Mini-splits can also be used to heat your home! We sell, install and service heat pumps.

What makes ductless mini-splits a great choice for my home?

Using ductless mini-splits to cool your home has a major advantage. They are cost effective to install because they don’t need ductwork the way central air conditioners do. And that’s not all! Here are some more reasons installing mini-splits in your home is a fantastic idea:

Quick, simple installation: Installing ductless mini-splits usually only takes a day, while setting up central A/C with ductwork is a messier process that can last several days.

Efficient zoned cooling: Ductless mini-splits offer a smart solution for staying cool and saving energy. Instead of cooling the entire house, they allow you to focus on specific areas, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness while keeping you comfortable. By optimizing where you need them most, you can enjoy enhanced comfort without unnecessary expenses.

Add cooling to spaces that need it: Ductless mini-splits are awesome because they can cool other areas in your home besides the main living spaces. Think workshops, garages, guesthouses, pool houses, gardening sheds, over-the-garage apartments, she sheds and more!

Long-lasting cooling: Regular, professional maintenance can help mini-split systems last for more than 20 years, while central air conditioning units usually have a shorter life span.

Supplement your cooling: Even if you already have a central air conditioning system, adding ductless mini-splits can benefit your home. If you’ve recently expanded or added new rooms — like, say, a finished attic — it’s worth considering installing ductless mini-splits to effectively cool these areas. Doing so not only reduces the workload on your central A/C, but also extends its life by minimizing wear and tear and reducing the need for frequent repairs.

How are mini-splits better than window air conditioning units?

Every year, homeowners who have window air conditioning units face the dilemma of whether to keep them installed during the winter. Keeping them in could result in heat loss, while removing them can be a hassle and risky, especially if your windows are high up. And hiring someone to remove them can cost a pretty penny every year.

There are a few reasons that window A/C units might not be the best choice. They’re not very energy efficient, and they don’t cool larger spaces as effectively. Plus, they can be pretty noisy. On top of that, if you have one on the ground floor, it could make it easier for burglars to get in. And let’s not forget that they can block light and let in all sorts of unwanted stuff from outside, like bugs, dust, dirt and pollen.
